Stone Masonry

Coed Hills Practical Basic Stone Masonry

Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th September 2010

With Master Stonemason Saul Nicholas from Coed Hills

This course is all about making useful stones for building simple buildings. Included is boning stone (making a flat surface), quoin making (making corner stones), pitching (striking off large mass of stone to leave rough face), punching (finer face) and foundation in building and setting out (using made stone). We will be using both Blue Lias limestone and Penant sandstone.
