The New Coed Hills Forest Garden Community Project

Coed
Hills Forest Garden ProjectHappy Solstice from Coed. Since last writing to you in the spring, the Forest Garden is growing beautifully in all this sunshine. With pond skaters in the pond and butterflies on the borage and it's hard to believe that just last year it was plain pasture field.  If only it would rain every once in a while so we wouldn't have to water all the newly established plants!

However there's still a lot of work to be done establishing the ground-covers and completing the transformation from pasture field to thriving forest garden.  It seems greedy to keep this beautiful new garden to ourselves, (and because in a few years it will be producing far more fruit than we could ever possibly eat) we have decided to set it up as a community project - and to do that we need your help.  If you are interested in being part of this exciting new project, then now's your chance.  We would welcome input from anyone from the local community who would be interested in helping to manage the forest garden, and also input from those from further afield with experience in setting up/running community projects or gardens.

The first meeting to begin the process of setting up the group will be held in early autumn. Please feel free to email us at coedforestgarden@googlemail.com to either express an interest in attending the meeting or with any other helpful advice.

If you're interested in taking part but don't have much experience with forest gardens then don't worry - we're going to run a series of six workshops over the next year to train people in seasonal forest garden maintenance.  Watch this space!
