Timothy Halewood

Paintings using egg and natural pigments

  Symbolic Spheres

Tim Halewood studied Sculpture at Carmarthen College 1998-2000.

Tim has lived and worked at Coed Hills Rural Artspace for seven years creating a woodland based sculpture trail, holistic healing centre and environmentally sustainable community. This is an ongoing experiment, which continues to evolve.

Tims work covers a range of mediums including large-scale land sculptures, woodcarving and painting.  He adds an artistic dimension to the construction of practical objects such as the willow weaved compost toilets at Coed Hills, affectionately know as the Tree Bogs.

2005 saw the creation of the largest modern stone circle in Europe overlooking the Severn estuary at Coed Hills Rural Artspace.  This 28 stone circle is based on a traditional medicine wheel with the adaptation of  four stones marking the four directions forming an internal circle.

This body of work was inspired by a trip to India with his family.  Tim draws his inspiration from the ancient healing symbols and geometric mandala forms he encountered on his travels.

The nature of circles have inspired man for thousands of years these are just one interpretation of their beauty.”

The mediums used in these paintings include tempura (egg yolk and pigment), inks, oils and pastels on paper.
