Wind Turbine

Coed Hills Self-Build Wind Turbine Course

Wednesday 7th - Wednesday 14th July 2010

In association with V3 Power (DIY Renewable Energy Cooperative)

This is a practical course on building a wind turbine from scratch. It includes carving aerodynamic blades from wood, winding electric coils, welding mountings, assembling electronic control systems and full installation on a tower. By the end of the course, participants will have built a large fully working turbine that will be in use at Coed in a variety of applications for many years to come. Basic theory of how to capture, manage and store energy from the wind will also be covered. The designs used are based on the Hugh Piggott axial flux.
